Our Award Winning Fibre

Our beautiful alpaca yarn and Fibre is from our small family run business here in the heart of the Cotswolds in the UK. My husband shears the alpacas and I carefully hand select the finest and best quality fleeces for hand spinning and then all of our 1st grade fleeces are sent to a mills for processing into Yarn.

All the dyeing with natural dyes is done by hand by myself.

Using natural dyes gives colours that then work well with the wide variety of naturally coloured Yarn that we have. Natural dyes lessen the strain on the planet and as we wish to live as simply as possible this enables us to bring you sustainable, eco-friendly and beautiful yarn.

Bridget has worked with Alpaca Fleece for the last 30 years. Don’t believe all the myths about how hard it is to work with. It’s not. It’s much more like cashmere than wool and is so beautiful to handle even in its raw state.

Bridget takes the different grades of alpaca and uses them for felting and weaving, as well as spinning and thence on to crochet or knitting. But her passion for spinning has meant she has given many workshops and taught many people this ancient art.

The very best results are acheived using natural dyes with Alpaca Fleece. She prepares and blends different plant dyes for stunning results. The mixed and blended combinations give beautiful colours. Many of the techniques are equally useful with other fibres. Bridget offers workshops to share her knowledge and at the end of it you will have a selection of wonderful coloured yarn to take away with you.

As well as spinning and dyeing, Bridget has organised peg looming and felting workshops and is part of a group of like minded ladies “The Wild Woolly Women” who meet weekly in different local venues, to share their creative interests and skills with lots of cake and chat!
