Husbandry Courses
(Sundays : 27th April, 27th July, 28th September 2025)
An Introduction to owning and caring for Alpacas
Join us on our farm in Cowley, near Cheltenham, for our British Alpaca Society affiliated husbandry course.
There is a good balance of fun and informative sessions and it is a great way to find out if Alpaca ownership is right for you – keeping them either as pets or for breeding. If you are already sure that you would like to join the growing number of Alpaca owners, then this is an excellent opportunity for you to learn, in a small group, all that you need to know about starting out and will be a good grounding in their day to day care. You will go away with the confidence to tackle most simple husbandry tasks.
We will cover feeding, basic alpaca management, handling, basic halter training, illness, vaccinations and supplements.
If the course falls below the minimum of two guests we will be rescheduling.
Lunch and refreshments are included so please let us know any dietary requirements.
We split the day between being outside handling the alpacas and sitting down under cover explaining the details. There will be plenty of time for your questions throughout the day.
Be sure to bring some appropriate, warm clothes and clean wellies.
The day runs from 10am to 4pm.
